If you love climbing houseplants but find traditional moss poles a little bulky, fiddly or high-maintenance, meet the Demi Moss Pole! We designed this compact, beginner-friendly moss pole to give your plants the support they need to climb, without a tricky assembly process.

Designed with ease of use in mind, the Demi combines the moisture-retaining benefits of a D-shaped moss pole with a slimmer, modular design. The result? Plenty of room for roots to grow into moist moss, without a huge pole taking over your pot or tricky snapping together of parts.

What is the Demi-D-Shaped Moss Pole?

The Demi is a D-shaped, extendable moss pole designed to support climbing houseplants and encourage aerial roots to establish themselves.

Unlike cylindrical moss poles, its semi-enclosed design helps keep moisture inside the pole for longer.

A clear curved backing helps retain humidity around the moss while also giving you a window into what's happening inside.....including those satisfying moments when new roots begin making their way through the moss!

At the front, the open diamond-patterned trellis gives your plant easy access to the substrate and makes for a good backdrop for most houseplants.

Easy-to-use for moss pole beginners

One of the biggest barriers to trying a moss pole can simply be setting the thing up or feeling confident about maintaining the pole as it grows.

The Demi keeps things refreshingly simple.

There's no complicated assembly or tools required. The individual sections slot together using dovetail joints, so you can build your pole and extend it as your plant grows.

The standard kit includes two 22 cm modules, giving you approximately 44 cm of usable moss pole height, along with a three-prong base for securing it in the pot, plus a drip cap for easy watering as standard.

This all-in-one kit design makes it a particularly handy option if you're experimenting with moss poles for the first time or don't need one of the larger, heavy-duty designs.

Just add sphagnum moss + water

A moss pole is only really useful to your plant when the moss stays moist.

That's why the Demi kit includes a SlowDrip cap as standard. The reservoir holds around 250 ml of water and gradually hydrates the moss below, helping reduce the need to manually soak the entire pole every time it starts drying out.

Fill the pole with hydrated sphagnum moss, attach your climbing plant and keep the moss moist. As the plant grows, its aerial roots have a humid surface they can grow into rather than simply wrapping around a dry support.

Grows with your plant

When your plant reaches the top, you don't need to replace the whole moss pole. Simply add another section and let it keep climbing with the in-built modularity. We offer easy extensions and you can buy new drip caps and accessories as you grow your moss pole family!

The Demi is particularly useful for small-medium plants you're hoping to train upwards over time. And because the modules can also be taken apart, the pole can be cleaned and reused if you decide to change your setup.

For taller extensions or particularly heavy plants, additional bracing is recommended to help support the weight of the hydrated moss and plant.

Still great moss volume

The Demi may be compact, but each module measures approximately 8.5 cm wide, 22 cm tall and 6.5 cm deep, creating plenty of internal space for moss.

Its enclosed back also helps reduce moisture loss compared with a completely open cylindrical design.

And because the backing is transparent, you can keep an eye on moisture levels and root development without having to dismantle your setup.

Balancing practicality with moss pole aesthetics

Plant supports are practical, but they're also sitting in the middle of your houseplants.

The Demi's diamond-patterned front turns the support into part of the display rather than something you're waiting for your plant to cover.

It's also made in the UK using 3D printing. The structural front and joints are made from bio-sourced PLA, while the transparent backing is PETG.
